Informacja o zaginięciu: Wiadomo, że zginął po wylądowaniu jego szybowca w okolicach Johannahoeve. Ostatni raz widziano go jak odjeżdżał jeepem po rozładowaniu szybowca. Wiadomym jest, że został pochowany na terenie Szpitala Psychiatrycznego, Wolfheze.

Grób 25.B.10 na Cmentarzu Wojennym w Oosterbeek oznaczony jest jako grób Łukasza Kozaka, który według relacji i dokumentów zmarł z ran w Oosterbeek blisko posiadłości Hemelsche Berg. Jednak dokumenty CWGC wskazują, że jego polowy pochówek znajdował się na terenie Szpitala Psychiatrycznego!

Jest to najprawdopodobniej pomyłka w identyfikacji, a pochowanym jest Stanisław Kopeć. Łukasz Kozak pozostaje więc zagionionym.

KIA Information:Known to have been killed during the landing of his glider in the Johannahoeve area. However , he is also reported to have been seen after unloading the glider under heavy enemy fire, and driving off his jeep. It is known that he was buried in the grounds of the Psychiatric  Hospital, Wolfheze. It is known that he was found with two murdered resistance fighters in the woods behind the Blind House.

Grave 25.B.10 on Arnhem-Oosterbeek War Cemetery holds the grave of Lukasz Kozak, who according to the documents was died of his wounds in Oosterbeek near the Hemelsche Berg Estate. However according to CWGC documents his body was found in the grounds of the Phychiatric Hospital!

Could this be a case of mistaken identity!  and is this the body of Stanislaw Kopec?.

This seems highly unlikely as there are statements made by Polish soldiers who carried  Private Kozak to a farm house where he died and then was buried by his Sergeant.

Grób 25.B.16 na Cmentarzu Wojennym w Oosterbeek oznaczony jest jako grób strzelca Emila Mentlika, który według dokumentów CWGC został pierwotnie pochowany w ogrodzie domu Vergarde przy ulicy Utrechtseweg 33 w Oosterbeek. Jest to błąd, ponieważ wiadomo, że został zabity i pochowany w ogrodzie domu rodziny Kremer, przy Stationsweg 8.

Istnieją trzy możliwości:

No.1 dokument CWGC ma wskazaną błędną lokalizację pierwotnego pochówku strzelca Emila Mentlika, ponieważ został znaleziony przy Stationsweg 8.

 No.2 lokalizacja jest prawidłowa i w tym grobie spoczywa jeden z zaginionych spadochroniarzy polskich. (Piotr Kanda lub Kazimierz Burdach)

No.3 Grób 25.B.4 (z ulicy Stationsweg 8) na Cmentarzu w Oosterbeek skrywa ciało strzelca Emila Mentlika. Wiemy również o dwóch innych zaginionych z pozycji na Stationsweg 8. Możliwym jest więc, że któryś z nich jest w nim pochowany

Grave 25.B.16 on Arnhem-Oosterbeek is named of that of Private Emil Mentlik, who according CWGC documents was buried in the garden of 'Vergarde' house , Utrechtseweg 33, Oosterbeek but this was incorrect, as it is known he was killed and buried in the garden of the Kremer Family house, stationsweg 8.

There are three options:

No.1 Either the CWGC document is wrong with the location and the above is Private Emil Mentlik and his body was found at Stationsweg 8.

No.2  the location is correct and  in this grave rests one of the missing Polish Paratroopers . (Either Kanda or Burdach)

No.3 Grave 25.B.4 (Stationsweg 8 ) now named as unknown on Arnhem-Oosterbeek Cemetery holds the body of  Private Emil Mentlik. However 2 other of the missing, also are believed to have been killed at Stationsweg , so its also possible that one of them in buried in this grave.
