Amerongen, a village and commune, is 32 kilometres east-south-east of Utrecht, and 35 kilometres west of Arnhem.
The cemetery is about 700 metres north of the main road to Arnhem, at the end of a small road known as Holleweg. In the south-western corner of the cemetery are the graves of soldiers and airmen
from the United Kingdom.
2 unknown men are buried in the Cemetery as a result of the fighting in the Arnhem-Oosterbeek area from 17th September 1944-26th September 1944.. They were both recovered from the Rhine, on 23-10-1944 and on 07-11-1944.
A 3rd body was found in the Rhine on
16-07-1945, although it is believed that this is not the body of a Allied soldier.
List from the Municipal Archives of Amerongen, showing the 2 unknown soldiers.
