1942 Bombed and sunk 15/05 by British aircrafts off the north coast of the Netherlands whilst on a voyage from Rotterdam, the Netherlands to Norway with coal and coke. 15 of the crew lost.
Selje was captured and in German control in 1940 and used in the ore and coal transport between Norway and Germany. On May 15th, 1942, while in convoy with 2 Swedish ships, 1 Danish ship and 8 German escort vessels, she was bombed and sunk by allied aircraft. She had a crew of 40 and 22 Navy personnel and was carrying coal to Norway. While taken in tow by a Vorpostenboot and while evacuating the wounded, she suddenly capsized and sank, taking with her 6 people, including her Captain. 8 other were killed during the bombing or thrown overboard. One of the escorting vessels,, Vorpostenboot V-2002 was also sunk in the same event.
