"An officer asked for volunteers to go on a patrol, I was glad to get out this, and off we went through the park and the perimeter. The main road passed along one side of our perimeter and was crossed by another road which formed the other border of our position.
(Arnhem Lift page 32)
"Captain Z (Captain Ogilvie) sent me along the road to try to link up with a party which the colonel had led, to report Jerry's position. It was a pity we couldn't drive them out of more of the houses but we were not supposed to get into a serious fight. So we remained in one house and were later told later to retire back into vegetable planation and occupy the houses on the right. We stayed in this street (Stationsweg) until the whole division withdrew on Monday."
(Arnhem Lift, page 33)
"We glider pilots coud now concentrate in the top six houses. Our glider Pilot HQ was in the third house from the top"
